Hello Friends , Welcome to my First Blog  " Khao, Piyo Aur Ghumo by NIKO " and to start the same i m choosing my  Native Place " Nashik " known for its " Oldest Temples " the place where Shri. Rama with his wife Sita Mata and Brother Laxmana stayed for long time and now Nashik known for its Vineyards, also knows as Wine capital of India.


 

Nashik was known as Panchavati before Ramayana period. Nashik has mythological, historical, social and cultural importance. The city is situated on the banks of the Godavari River, making it one of the holiest places for Hindus all over the world. Nashik has a rich historical past, as the mythology has it that Lord Rama, the King of Ayodhya, made Nashik his abode during his 14 years in exile. At the same place Lord Laxman, by the wish of Lord Rama, cut the nose of “Shurpnakha” and thus this city was named as “Nashik”. 

So Lets Explore Nashik Famous Places its history and how to reach same.


1. Trimbakeshwar Temple







Shri Trimbakeshwar Temple is located at a distance of about 28 km from Nashik, Maharashtra near the mountain named Brahamagiri from which the river Godavari flows. It was constructed by third Peshwa Balaji Bajirao (1740-1760) on the site of an old temple.

Trimbakeshwar Temple is a religious centre having one of the twelve Jyotirlingas . The city of Trimbakeshwar is located at the foot of Brahamagiri hill ,height of which is 3000 feet above sea level. Trimbakeshwar Temple is maintained by Trimbakeshwar Temple Trust. They have constructed Shivprasad Bhakta Niwas which is having 24 rooms (2 bedded, 3 bedded, 5 bedded), conference hall, lift, hot water facilities.

2. Sula Vineyards 

Sula Vineyards (or "Sula") is a winery and vineyard located in the Nashik region of western India,180 km northeast of Mumbai. It was founded by Rajeev Samant in 1998. After the launch of its first wines in 2000, Sula expanded from its original 30 acre family estate in Nashik to approximately 1800 acres across Nashik and the state of Maharashtra. Sula introduced grape varietals such as Chenin blancSauvignon blancRiesling and Zinfandel to India and as of 2013,Located in the Western Ghats and at 600 meters above sea level, the heavy clay, and the cool nights give the vineyards optimum atmosphere to grow splendid grapes for wine. You'll walk through the vineyards themselves and learn, from professional winemaker, as to how the process of winemaking proceeds. From plucking the grapes off the vine to the cold fermentation, you'll complete the process by enjoying a wine tasting session.


So if you are Wine Lover this is the place you must visit in your Nasik trip and taste the best Local wine.


3.Dadasaheb Phalake Museum:

It is located within Nashik City on Mumbai road (NH 3), about 8 km from Central Bus Stand. The Dadasaheb Phalke was the legendary person who was the progressive spirit behind the century old Indian Cinema.He born at Nashik on 30 th April 1870. In 1913 he produced the first Indian film Raja Harishchandraand in the span of years produced 95 fims and 26 documentaries in a studio setup at Nashik till 1932. This memorial is a tribute to this great visionary, Dadasaheb Phalke Smarak is committed towards edifying, devout and rational development.


 The building contains a place for meditation, a main conference hall and an exhibition center. The Smarak also displays the works of the Dadasaheb Phalke. The memorial spreads across a vast extend of 29 acres. It also has Budhda smarak , garden and dancing fountains.


4. Gargoti 


The Mineral Museum It is situated in Malegaon industrial area of Sinnar which is at the distance of 28 km from Nashik city. Sinnar is a small bustling town, renowned for the award winning mineral museum called Gargoti Museum. It is one of the best museums in the world with large collection of zeolites which are micro porous crystalline solids with well defined rich structures similar to that of diamonds or other precious stones. Pride of India, Sarswati Puraskar, Sinnar Gaurav are some among the awards that have been given to appreciate this mesmerizing museum. Gargoti museum is the only museum in India that displays the mineral treasures of the earth like rocks, minerals and crystals varying in nature, shape, color and application. The exhibits in the museums includes specimen of diamonds, cut stones, light green cubical apophyllite, crystals of yellow calcite, blue-green aquamarine, cavansite and rare foreign minerals. These are displayed in two galleries namely Minerals from the Deccan Plateau located on the first floor and The Prestige Gallery on the ground floor. A souvenir shop is also attached to the museums where necklaces, mineral specimen, lapidary items, post card pictures and posters can be purchased.

These are displayed in two galleries namely Minerals from the Deccan Plateau located on the first floor and The Prestige Gallery on the ground floor. 5.Pandavleni Caves 

These caves are located on hill at the outskirts of Nashik city on Nashik Mumbai road (NH3) Dadasaheb Phalke smarak is erected at the foots of this hill.


These caves are built on the Trirasmi hill about 3004 feet above the sea. These caves are the group of old Buddhist caves (B.C.250- A.D.600). Their northern frontage saves them from the sun and the south-west rains hence much of the carved work and many long and most valuable inscriptions have passed fresh amd unharmed through 1500-2000 years.. All the caves are great examples of intricate carving and craftsmanship but the 3, 10, 18 caves are a must see for their outstanding sculptures. 

Most of the caves have the magnificent idols of Buddha and or the popular Jain Teerthankaras. The caves had an excellent arrangement for water, with skillfully chiseled water tanks, exquisitely carved into the rocks.
